    Details of Disappearance

Adams was last heard from on October 21, 2005, when she spoke to her mother on the telephone. Adams stated she would attend her sister's birthday party the following day, but she never showed up and has never been heard from again. On October 24, the police did a welfare check on Adams's apartment in the 600 block of Jodeco Circle in Lilburn, Georgia and found indications of foul play, including blood and one .45 caliber bullet casing, inside. Some bedding inside the washing machine was taken away for forensic testing. Adams's car was parked outside the apartment and there was a handwritten note on her door. It was from Adams's sister; she wrote that she was worried and Adams should call her as soon as possible.

Five days before she was reported missing, Adams filed for a restraining order against her former boyfriend, Billy Joe Cook. A photograph of him is posted below this case summary. She stated Cook was physically and verbally abusive and she was afraid for her life. A temporary restraining order was granted and a court hearing was scheduled to determine whether the order should become permanent, but Adams disappeared before the hearing and it was postponed as a result. Cook has been cooperative in the investigation and is not being called a suspect in her disappearance. He stated he and Adams often argued but he never abused her. He was arrested after she disappeared and charged with stalking Adams before she went missing. Although the restraining order prohibited Cook from contacting Adams in any way, he called her apartment twice on the day she disappeared.

In May 2007, the police discovered a pair of men's size 8 black Reebok sneakers, a pair of size 10 capri pants, and a black sweater in the woods along Interstate 85 in Franklin County, Georgia. This is approximately 90 miles from Adams's home. Some human bones and a breast implant were also located. The implant didn't have a serial number, but Adams's doctor says it's the type and size she had. The bones have yet to be identified.

Adams graduated from Williamsport High School and spent four years in the United States Navy. She was employed as a hairstylist at the Great Clips salon in Norcross, Georgia at the time of her disappearance, and also took classes at Gwinnett Technical College. She has two teenage children who now live in Pennsylvania with their grandmother. Authorities believe Adams disappeared under suspicious circumstances, as it is uncharacteristic of her to be out of touch with her family. Investigators stated the evidence inside her apartment indicated she had been murdered. No suspects have been named in case, which remains unsolved.
