Missing Since: March 26, 2004 from Albuquerque, New Mexico Classification: Endangered Missing Date of Birth: September 28, 1988 Age: 15 years old Height and Weights: 5'4, 90 pounds Distinguishing Characteristics: Hispanic female. Brown hair, hazel/brown eyes. Barela has a tattoo of a small heart on her right shoulder and a tattoo of a small initial J between her right thumb and forefinger. Her nickname is Chiquita. Some agencies give Barela's middle name as "Catalina." Clothing/Jewelry Description: A white t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
Details of Disappearance
Barela was last seen at approximately 9:00 p.m. on March 26, 2004, leaving her residence the vicinity of the 1100 block of Palomas southeast in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was accompanied by a relative, Evelyn Salazar, at the time of her disappearance. Barela and Salazar planned to go to a local park and said they would return in an hour, but they never did. Both remain missing and their cases are unsolved. They are believed to be still in the local area.Some agencies classify Barela as a runaway.
