Cirioni was last seen by her mother on December 31, 2006 in Norwich, Connecticut. She visited her two sons at her mother's home that day. She showered and changed her clothes and left home, saying she was going to celebrate the New Year at the Howard Brown Marina. She may have been seen shortly after midnight on January 1, walking along Boswell Avenue. She has never been heard from again. She left behind uncashed checks, and her cellular phone has not been used since 11:55 p.m. on the day of her disappearance.

Cirioni has a history of alcohol and drug abuse and had several run-ins with the law for drug offenses and disorderly conduct, but her mother stated she planned to clean up her life and was attempting to get into a rehabilitation program. Cirioni had always lived near her mother and her mother doesn't believe she would have abandoned her children. Her mother described Cirioni as a kind-hearted person who trusted the wrong people; she believes Cirioni met with foul play. Cirioni's case remains unsolved.
