Currie was last seen on Dane Hill Road in West Charleston, Vermont on July 23, 2006. He has never been heard from again. On July 26, his blue Chevrolet Lumina sedan was found abandoned in a cemetery near his apartment on Main Street in West Charleston. The keys were still in the ignition and the vehicle's license plate had been removed and was found about eighty yards away. There was no sign of Currie at the scene.

Currie's mother stated her son had never visited the cemetery where his car was found, and she does not believe he drove his car there himself. His parents both said he had been involved with drugs, namely crack cocaine, and was upset at the time of his disappearance due to a recent breakup with his girlfriend. He had dropped out of high school prior to his disappearance in order to work with his uncle.

Currie may have remained in the local area after he went missing. The circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear, but foul play is suspected.
