Details of Disappearance
Angela was last seen in Anchorage, Alaska on during April 17, 2010. She lived in the 4100 block of Lakeridge Circle, close to Jewel Lake. The night before her disappearance, she had been drinking and her husband, William Michael "Mike" Dixiano, called the police and said she was having mental health problems. When the police responded to William's call and went to take Angela to Central Peninsula Hospital for an evaluation, in their presence she told William she was going to tell everything and he would go to prison. Angela was released from the hospital the next day; doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her.William subsequently told numerous people that Angela had died of natural causes, but he gave different accounts as to where she had died and what disease had killed her. Her mother had a newspaper print an obituary in Angela's home state of Washington, and William gave her a plaque from the memorial service and said he had scattered Angela's ashes. However, there was no official report of Angela's death and no death certificate was filed for her.
A photo of William is posted below this case summary. Just prior to her disappearance, Angela told a male friend that William had stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from another man and she had was going to report him to the authorities. This was the last time she spoke to her friend, and it was he who reported her missing in December 2010, months after she was last seen.
When Angela's friend told police about the allegations Angela had made against her husband, they began investigating William for theft. In January 2011, he was arrested and charged with seven felony counts, including theft, scheming to defraud, and multiple counts of forgery. Authorities stated a mentally disabled man had a substantial inheritance and trust fund and he gave William full power of attorney over his assets, and William took the inheritance for himself, made large cash deposits to his own accounts and purchased several expensive cars and a motor home. When questioned about Angela's disappearance, William stated he had lied about her being dead. He said one day she asked him for $10,000 in cash and, when he gave it to her, she simply left home and never came back.
In February 2011, William was charged with murder, forgery and evidence tampering in Angela's case. Authorities stated they found pools of human blood in the crawl space of the couple's home and blood spattered on the wall, as well as other evidence. William had replaced bloodstained carpet in his home in April and May 2010, saying the blood came from his dog who had died there. Investigators believe he murdered Angela because she threatened to expose his fraud scheme.
William is awaiting trial for the murder case and the theft case. Angela's body has never been found, but foul play is suspected in her disappearance due to the circumstances involved.
