When she fled with Alicia and Mitchell, Festervand left her son, their brother, behind. She is believed to be accompanied by her new husband, a long-distance truck driver, and she has had a son by him. Nearly two years after the children's abductions, Festervand and the children were located in Harrison, Arkansas, but they left before the children could be recovered. Authorities tracked them through Arkansas and Texas, but were never able to catch up to them. Festervand formerly worked as a paralegal and police dispatcher and is probably using her knowledge of law enforcement techniques to evade detection. Investigators believe she and the children may still be in the Arkansas region, possibly in a mobile home or RV park, moving frequently. Authorities said Alicia and Mitchell have not attended school and may not be getting proper medical care.

Alicia is described as a "girly-girl" who liked to wear dresses and play with Barbie dolls in 2006. Mitchell enjoys outdoor pursuits, including fishing and bike riding. The children's current whereabouts are unknown and their cases remain unsolved.
