Forsyth was last seen in Waterloo, Iowa on October 18, 1979. He was departing his apartment at the time, carrying something wrapped in a rug. Forsyth has never been heard from again. There has been some speculation that his disappearance is connected to the disappearance of another Waterloo man, Steven Kirchhoff, who disappeared in 1978. Forsyth paid cash for a Cadillac a week after Kirchhoff disappeared. Nothing has been uncovered to the link the two cases, however. Both disappearances remain unsolved.
