    Details of Disappearance

Gonzalez was last seen at a residence in the 100 block of Crystal Lane in Siler City, North Carolina on October 1, 2006. He was asleep at the home he shared with his mother, Florentina Gonzalez Coria; his grandfather; and a teenage relative. Florentina had separated from Gonzalez's father, Jorge Sanchez Aguilera, sometime before, and Aguilera was out on bail for breaking a domestic violence protective order. Florentina had legal custody of their son.

Aguilera broke into the residence between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. He was accompanied by three other men. They cut the phone lines, bound Gonzalez's relatives with duct tape and threatened them at gunpoint. The abductors then left with Gonzalez. He has never been heard from again. Initial reports were that the suspects fled in a burgundy SUV, but when this vehicle was located, authorities decided had no connection to the abduction.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with Gonzalez's kidnapping. Elvis Nino Hernandez was arrested on unrelated immigration charges, but is believed to have been involved somehow in the abduction. Francisco Rodriguez was arrested after a search of his residence revealed a stolen handgun, which authorities believe was used in the kidnapping. Marcelino Zamudio Tomas and Lorenzo Gonzales Coria were arrested and charged with burglary and first-degree kidnapping; investigators believe they directly participated in Gonzalez's abduction. Lorenzo is Florentina's brother. Photographs of all four suspects are posted below this case summary, along with a photo of Aguilera. He was located and arrested in the summer of 2010, but Edwin wasn't with him at the time. Authorities believe he may have taken Edwin to Mexico and left him with relatives.

Edwin is considered to be at risk due to the violent nature of his abduction. His whereabouts are unknown and his case remains unsolved.
