Details of Disappearance
Johnson left her Salem, Oregon home in 1982 and hitchhiked to Reno, Nevada to visit a relative. On September 14, 1982, she left her relative's home and said she was going to visit a friend in San Jose, California. She was alone, on foot, and possibly carrying a large blue suitcase at the time. It's unclear if she ever arrived in San Jose, and she has never been heard from again.Johnson's entire police file was lost sometime after her disappearance; investigators do not know the whereabouts of her relatives, if she has any still living, and so cannot compare their DNA to any unidentified remains they find. Johnson's disappearance remains unsolved. Oregon police are investigating.
