Details of Disappearance
MacGregor was last seen asleep in her parents' Sahalee, Washington home on the morning of September 19, 1990. She had three job interviews scheduled for that day, but didn't show up to any of them. Her mother was initially unconcerned when MacGregor didn't come home that evening, because she believed she was spending the night at her boyfriend's home. The next day, she found out MacGregor's boyfriend hadn't heard from her, and she called the police.MacGregor's blue and silver 1985 Honda CRX with Washington license plates numbered 348 BKL disappeared with her. A photo of the car is posted below this case summary. On October 3, it was found abandoned at an apartment complex in the 5200 block of 42nd Avenue north in the Columbia City area of Seattle, Washington. MacGregor apparently didn't know anyone living in the apartments. The neighborhood is notable for its high rates of crime and drug activity. In April 1991, police found MacGregor's key ring, part of her wallet and two of her credit cards in a wooded area near Alcott Elementary School. It's unclear who left them there; investigators speculated a child found the items elsewhere, went into the woods to look at them, and then left them behind.
MacGregor's boyfriend was the victim of a mysterious assault prior to her disappearance. He said a man he didn't know walked up to him at a gas station while he was sitting in his car and asked if he was MacGregor's boyfriend. When he said he was, the man punched him and said, "Your girlfriend's dead." The assailant has never been identified. MacGregor's boyfriend also found notes in his car saying "Your girlfriend's dead."
MacGregor graduated from Redmond High School in June 1990 and planned to enroll in Bellevue Community College, but she missed the application deadline and decided to get a job instead. It's uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning. MacGregor's parents divorced in the 1980s. She lived with her mother and younger sister at the time of her disappearance. Her mother died in an accident in 1991. MacGregor's case remains unsolved and foul play is suspected.
