Details of Disappearance
Jermaine's parents, Allan Mann Jr. and Lyneth Mann-Lewis, had been married for three years when he was born. Lyneth stated her relationship with Allan deteriorated after Jermaine's birth and the couple separated in 1986. A custody battle ensued and Lyneth was granted sole custody of Jermaine, with Allan getting weekend visitation rights.Allan abducted Jermaine on June 24, 1987 (Allan's birthday), shortly before Lyneth was supposed to take the child to Jamaica for vacation. She dropped him off for a weekend visit in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and never saw him again. A Canadian arrest warrant was issued for Allan the day he kidnapped his son. Photographs and vital statistics for him are posted below this case summary. At first it was believed Allan took Jermaine to Allan's native Ghana, but later evidence indicated this theory was unlikely. An extensive investigation turned up no sign of either of them.
Allan and Jermaine are believed to still be in North America, possibly in the New York area. The child's case remains unsolved. The Charley Project is profiling his disappearance because he may be in the United States.
