Details of Disappearance
Frederick disappeared from Knoxville, Tennessee on March 30, 2009. Authorities believe he was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Monica Maranda. A photograph and vital statistics for Monica are posted below this case summary. A felony warrant for abduction was issued for her on March 31, 2009.Authorities initially believed Frederick and Monica were traveling in a blue 1989 Ford Econoline van with the Tennessee license plate number 210 KHB. This vehicle has been recovered, however. Authorities arrested Frederick's father, Gene, and charged him with custodial interference. He apparently assisted in Frederick's abduction.
Frederick and Monica may still be in Tennessee, or they may be in Virginia. The child's whereabouts are unknown and his case remains unsolved.
