Meier was last seen after she left her home in the 1800 block of south Ocean Drive in Hallandale Beach, Florida on June 4, 2010. Driving her red 2007 Cadillac Escalade with the Florida license plate number LI7DA, she went to a drive-up ATM at the Bank of America in the 800 block of east Hallandale Beach Boulevard. She withdrew a large sum of money, then drove away. A stoplight surveillance camera captured her image at the intersection of Hollandale Beach Boulevard and Federal Highway at approximately 5:30 a.m. She has never been heard from again. Two African-American males separately tried to use Meier's ATM cards to access her bank account only about an hour after she was last seen. The men wore dark-colored clothing and hooded jackets, and covered their faces. Two days after Meier's disappearance, two females used Meier's credit card at a Wal-Mart store near Miami Lakes, Florida. Police were able to identify and question the women, who said a man had given the card to them. On June 13, investigators found Meier's car in Opa-locka, Florida, not far from where the men had tried to use her ATM card. It was in good condition. Authorities stated someone had used a cleaner on the car to get rid of evidence. There was no sign of Meier at the scene.

Antwan Terrell Kennedy and Dallas King are considered persons of interest in Meier's disappearance. Photos of both men are posted below this case summary. Authorities stated Meier knew both men and they knew each other. She met Kennedy when he was a teenager and she was a volunteer working with underprivileged youth, and they later dated for a time. After they ended their romantic relationship they remained friends, and he was the last person she is known to have spoken to. Both King and Kennedy admitted they attempted use her credit and debit cards. King also had Meier's watch and some other belongings in his possession.

Kennedy was on probation for aggravated battery at the time of Meier's disappearance. He had been accused of murder in 2007, but that charge was dropped after he produced four alibi witnesses. King has prior convictions for robbery and, after Meier went missing, was convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to life in prison. Both men both maintain their innocence in Meier's disappearance.

Meier graduated from North Miami Beach High School. She got a degree in pharmacy from Nova Southeastern University in 1999. She was unemployed at the time of her disappearance, wasn't dating anyone and doesn't have any children. Her case remains unsolved and foul play is suspected.
