    Details of Disappearance

St. Louis County, Missouri officals believed Mills was a runaway when he was located in August 1990. Mills was placed with Youth Emergency Services in a Maryland Heights, Missouri residential facility while authorities attempted to verify his identity. Mills left the facility on September 21, 1990. He has never been heard from again. All the information he provided authorities about himself turned out to be false; Mills has never been identified.

During this time in the Maryland Heights area there was a serial killer preying on young male prostitutes; Mills fits the profile of his victims. Two as-of-yet unidentified victims of the serial killer fit Mills's general description, but neither can be either identified or ruled out as being him since Mills himself was never identified. His case remains unsolved.
