Moneyham was last seen in Birmingham, Alabama on July 6, 1999. He left to go to the store and never returned. He has never been heard from again. His wife reported him missing on July 27.

On August 31, nearly two months after Moneyham disappeared, authorities swore out a warrant for his arrest. He had pleaded guilty to cocaine trafficking and was given probation, but he never met with his probation officer or paid court costs as required. He has had earlier arrests on drug and harassment charges. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that he left of his own free will to avoid prosecution, but the possibility foul play is not being excluded either. Moneyham's case remains unsolved.
