Mueller was last seen in a recreational vehicle (RV) park in the 2700 block of West Windmill Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 14, 1997. She was searching for a job at the time she disappeared. She never returned home and has never been heard from again. Her car, a black two-door 1986 Pontiac Trans Am Sport with a black leather interior and dog tags hanging from its mirror, is also missing.

The serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells confessed to having kidnapped and murdered a woman in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1997. He drew a sketch of his victim and Mueller's mother identified it as her daughter. The identification is not considered conclusive, however, and no substantial evidence can link Sells to Mueller's death. He has confessed to many crimes he did not commit.

Mueller's case remains unsolved. She is missing under unknown circumstances.
