    Details of Disappearance

Noan disappeared from Miami, Florida on August 30, 2010. He was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Renata Soares. A photograph and vital statistics for Soares are posted below this case summary. A felony warrant for custodial interference was issued for her on June 5, 2012.

Soares, who is from the city of Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, had taken Noam to her home country for what was supposed to be a two-week vacation. Before they were supposed to return, however, she called Noam's father and said they weren't going back. She had taken Noam on several lengthy trips to Brazil before, and had previously threatened to take him to that country and not return. Noam's father has applied for his return to the United States under the terms of the Hague Treaty on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. In Brazil it is not a crime for a Brazilian citizen to abduct a child from a non-citizen spouse, and out of 70 Hague Treaty applications thus far, Brazil has only returned one child to its country of origin.

Noan's father believes Soares and her family had been planning his abduction for a long time, perhaps even before he was born. The child's case remains unsolved.
