Sneha's father, Justin Pierce, has tried to have the child returned to the United States. He applied for her return under the terms of the Hague Treaty on the Civil Aspects of Child Abduction, but Mauritius has not signed the treaty and is not bound by it. Authorities in Mauritius have ruled that Sneha should stay with her mother. Harsha accuses Justin of violent behavior; he denies this.
