Missing Since: March 24, 2008 from Kalalau Valley, Hawaii Classification: Lost/Injured Missing Date of Birth: October 28, 1985 Age: 22 years old Height and Weight: 6'1 - 6'2, 170 - 185 pounds Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Pinegar has a tattoo of a Celtic tree of life on his right shoulder and a tattoo of a Celtic bear on the left side of his abdomen. He wore a light beard at the time of his disappearance. He has previously fractured his arm and his ankle.
Details of Disappearance
Pinegar flew from his home in Orem, Utah to Hawaii for a vacation in January 2008. He hiked into the Kalalau Valley and set up a campsite five miles from the trailhead. He stayed in contact with his family by cellular phone. They last heard from him on March 24, 2008. He has never been seen again.After his disappearance, Pinegar's campsite was found abandoned with all his personal belongings, including his clothing, camping equipment and iPod. Only his wallet, cellular phone and backpack were missing. His case remains unsolved.
