Details of Disappearance
Sheriff was last seen at 10:30 p.m. on December 23, 1997 in Jackson, Mississippi. His car was found the next day on Christmas Eve, in Hanging Moss Creek south of Briarwood Drive. The creek was swollen at this time. Sheriff's coat was found inside his car and authorities initially believed he had drowned, but his remains were never found and now foul play is suspected in his disappearance.
