Shivers was last seen in the 700 block of northwest 9 Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on February 19, 2007. She was reported missing by her husband on February 19. She left most of her belongings behind in her apartment, including her wallet and driver's license, and she hasn't contacted any of her loved ones, which is uncharacteristic of her. Her husband at first said he thought she had been kidnapped, but later he claimed Shivers had left a voice mail message on his cellular phone saying she was leaving him and going to Georgia. Shivers has some distant cousins in Georgia, but they haven't heard from her and police don't believe she ever arrived there.

Shivers did not have a cellular phone or credit cards when she disappeared, which makes it difficult to track her whereabouts. Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved.
