All cases profiled in this section feature individuals who were missing and have been located. Investigations may continue in certain instances (i.e. homicide).

Certain cases are not listed in this section at the request of the victim's family members or law enforcement officials.

Lorena Cerna Carreon
Carreon

Carreon, 27, disappeared from Birmingham, Alabama on February 19, 2005. Her remains were found under the Interstate 10 bridge near the San Marcos River in Guadalupe, Texas in May 2005, but they were not identified until October. Carreon had been strangled and her body had been wrapped in a sheet before it was dumped.

Shortly after the identification of Carreon's body, police arrested a suspect in her murder. Aldo Parra Martinez confessed to strangling Carreon after he was taken into custody. He is awaiting trial.

Allen

Allen, 15, ran away from his Longview, Texas home on December 26, 2003. He was found safe in October 2005.

Linda Marie Singleton
Singleton

Singleton, 35, disappeared from Mansfield, Ohio on January 10, 2002. She was not reported missing for six months. In November 2004, Singleton's remains were found in a shallow grave behind south Stewart Road in Mansfield. A short time later, Larry Brown, who rented the property where her body was found, was charged with her murder. Singleton was having an affair with Brown's wife at the time that she went missing and he had threatened to kill her because of it. He is awaiting trial.

King

King, 15, ran away from her Natchitoches, Louisiana home on April 17, 2004. She was found safe in October 2005.

Edwina Sims
Sims

Sims, 34, disappeared from North Charleston, South Carolina on April 21, 2001. In 2002, Ivory Croker was charged with her abduction. Coker cut a deal with prosecutors and admitted helping Ronald Coulter, Sims's ex-boyfriend, dispose of her body. Coulter pleaded guilty to kidnapping in February 2004; prosecutors agreed not to charge him with murder in exchange for his guilty plea. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Coker, who pleaded guilty to withholding information from police, lead investigators to Sims's skeletal remains in Berkeley County, South Carolina in March 2004.

Lorraine A. Kirkley
Kirkley

Kirkley, 34, disappeared from Valparaiso, Indiana on July 21, 1999. Authorities believe she arrived home from work while David Malinski was burglarizing her property, and he abducted her. Some very incriminating photographs were found, and Malinski was convicted of Kirkley's murder in February 2000. For several years he continued to maintain she was still alive, but he experienced a religious conversion in 2005 and lead authorities to Kirkley's body in September of that year. She had been strangled and buried on Malinski's father's property.

Thomas Bartlett Whitaker
Whitaker

Whitaker, 24, disappeared from Sugar Land, Texas on June 29, 2004. He left a note behind saying he feared being arrested for the murders of his mother and brother, who were shot to death in 2003. In September 2005, authorities located Whitaker in Monterrey, Mexico and arrested him for capital murder. Two other suspects are also in custody.

Chaney, 43, disappeared from Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 7, 2000. His body was found buried in a backyard on the north side of the city in August 2005; it was identified in September. Another set of human remains was also present; they have not been identified. A suspect in Chaney's death is currently in police custody on an unrelated charge.

Darvin, 18, was forcibly abducted by his Aloha, Oregon home by two men on November 20, 2004. One suspect, Petronilo Lopez-Minjarez, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault, burglary and murder, but Darvin was not located at the time and the other suspect, Petronilo Lopez-Lopez, who is the father of the arrested man, remains at large.

Darvin's skeletal remains were found in a wooded area off an old logging road fourteen miles outside of Banks, Oregon in September 2005. They were identified by the clothing and by Darvin's wallet and identification, which were near the body.

Omar Scharief Seymore Sr.

Seymore, 24, disappeared with his girlfriend, Kimberly Riley, from Lorain, Ohio on December 23, 1998. He was arrested in California in June 2005, six and a half years later, and extradited back to Ohio to face charges of parole violation. Riley has not been located and her whereabouts are unknown.

Messex

Messex, 31, disappeared after fleeing the scene of a car accident in New Haven, Missouri on January 3, 2004. In August 2005, his skeletal remains were found in a wooded area about 120 yards off Highway C, between the scene of the accident and Messex's home four miles away. The bones were identified in September. The cause of Messex's death has not been determined and his death remains under investigation.

Cholena, 8, and Kachina, 12, were abducted by their non-custodial mother from Chicago, Illinois on December 24, 1998. They were found safe in September 2005, over six years later.

Jeremy Michael DeWalt
DeWalt

DeWalt, 5, was abducted by his non-custodial mother with the assistance of her parents on October 25, 2002 from San Antonio, Texas. The grandparents were later arrested and served prison terms, but DeWalt was still missing and his mother remained at large.

In September 2005, nearly three years after his abduction, DeWalt was found safe in Zacatecas, Mexico, where he had been living with his mother under another name. His mother has been arrested on charges of interfering with child custody and hindering arrest; she could face kidnapping charges as well. DeWalt has been reunited with his searching father.
